Our Garden
|
The High Hopes garden is something to behold. Its rich tree life attracts birds of all types, including many species of kingfisher, sunbirds and owls. Indigenous and exotic trees live side by side, forming canopies under which smaller trees, climbing roses and other shrubs form an exquisite cottage garden. The garden is perhaps most famous for its more than a thousand roses. The garden itself can be hired, and often has, for weddings or even just for photographs. The garden has lovely features for water lovers - a geometric pond with goldfish and water plants out of which rises a tiered fountain, a large and beautiful lily-pond, and a swimming pool. Twenty odd large Khoi fish swim lazily in the dappled light of the lily-pond. Natural spring water fills the pond, which is topped by Greyton's well-known 'lei-water', filling it to its brim until it overflows and runs in a little stream into and out of the garden.
