As well as being a guest house owner, Sharon is an apprentice violin carver,
currently a student of internationally renowned violin-maker, Brian Lisus.
Before moving to Greyton, Sharon, an established goldsmith of 24 years
experience, co-established Scarab Jewellery Studio. Their stylish shop
can be visited at Cavendish Square, Lower Ground, next to Exclusive Books!
She is no longer in the business, as she is committed to violin-making,
compost-making and running a very fine B&B. Sharon grew up in Westville
near Durban, then trained at the Natal Technikon. Sharon moved to Greyton
to be at High Hopes. Her “local” passion is compost-making and worm farming
on a cottage garden scale. Sharon’s other interests are ceramics, walking,
fishing, vegetable gardening and singing. Sharon sings amateur opera since
training with Danie Theron of UCT Opera School.

Angela is the Director of High Hopes Healing Energy Centre, and runs her
practice on site here in Greyton. She has trained and worked in this field
for twenty years, and it is one of the great loves of her life. Angela
holds two postgraduate degrees, in Psychology and a Joint Honours in English
Literature and Music, both from Rhodes University. She also holds certificates
in Applied Kinesiology, Energy or Chi Massage, Psychoneuroimmunology,
Attunement and Reiki. A qualified Reiki Master (teacher), Angela teaches
on request at High Hopes. She is committed to teaching and learning, and
to all aspects of transformation work. For almost nine years Angela directed
an organisation working with refugees, in partnership with United Nations.
She played the cello in Cape Town's amateur string orchestra, Musicanti,
under the directorship of Erika Naumann. Her other loves are animals,
gardening, walking, music and poetry.

Hannah, Angela's daughter, lives at High Hopes too, together with their
beloved dogs, cats and goats. WE DO HAVE ANIMALS! Her love of horse-riding,
bike-riding, gardening, piano playing and reading make High Hopes the
perfect home for her. She loves it when children come to visit, and will
happily take you for a row on the High Hopes dam, or for a bike ride around
the village to see donkeys, cows and all sorts of exciting things, especially
lemon curd pancakes or lemon ice-cream at the Saturday morning market.
Hannah is also keen for a bit of tennis on the green at the bottom of
the garden, to introduce you to Betsy (the goat) or for a dip in the pool
in summer. There is a wonderful selection of children's books, games and
puzzles for when children visit High Hopes, and adult and children’s bikes
are available for hire too.
Both Sharon and Angela
have extensive experience in doing what we love in life. Living the country
life, gardening, cooking, working hard, hiking, meditating, playing music,
and making your stay as comfortable, enjoyable and as memorable as we
can, are our priority and our pleasure. Our home is your home while you
are here and you are very welcome.
